Supporting the Future of Texas Rangers’ Families The Texas Ranger Association Foundation (TRAF) Scholarship Program was created with a mission to ease some of the financial burden faced by Texas Rangers as their children pursue higher education. Texas Rangers hold some of the most demanding roles in law enforcement, and TRAF aims to relieve the stress of funding college, allowing Rangers to focus on their vital work.
The Texas Ranger Association Foundation (TRAF) Scholarship Program was created with a mission to ease some of the financial burden faced by Texas Rangers as their children pursue higher education. Texas Rangers hold some of the most demanding roles in law enforcement, and TRAF aims to relieve the stress of funding college, allowing Rangers to focus on their vital work.
The first scholarships were awarded in 1988, made possible through grassroots fundraising efforts and generous donations. In those early years, scholarships were limited to a small number of recipients, dependent on annual fundraising success. However, as the program grew, so did the number of scholarships. Today, every child of an active-duty Texas Ranger is eligible for scholarships each semester, thanks to the increased support.
By 2024, full-time students were awarded $2,000 per semester, while part-time students received prorated amounts based on their course load.
Since its inception, TRAF has proudly awarded more than $2.7 million in scholarships to the children of active-duty Texas Rangers.
